    Trinidad – Flotel Riverboat

  • 1. Trinidad – Flotel Riverboat
In the morning you are transferred from your hotel to the protected area of Ibare Mamore at Loma Suarez some 10km/6.2mi west of town and we embark on the riverboat (Flotel) “Reina de Enin”. We sail on the Ibare river to the San Carlos area where in the afternoon we visit the people living here. We go for a canoe tour to practice the art of paddling the way they do every day. In the evening we are given some information about the area and the rest of the evening is free.

    2. Flotel Riverboat
We sail to where the rivers Ibare and Mamoré flow into each other in the heart of the protected area. Here we can find plenty river dolphins, the ambassadors of the Beni, and we can go for refreshing swim in their company. In the afternoon we embark on smaller boats in order to reach the Laguna Basilea. We explore the flooded backwaters where we can also find an abandoned fruit plantation with plenty fruit. We return to the Flotel and in the evening, after dinner, we go for a boat safari tour to try and get some pictures of the Yacare caiman.

    3. Flotel Riverboat
We sail upriver on the Rio Mamoré, which is the biggest river in Bolivia, to the Laguna Verde which we reach in smaller boats. We go for a swim in these calm waters before we visit the El Carmen estancia. Here we go for a tour on horseback (approx. 1 ½ hour) to visit the surrounding pampa and selva. After dinner back at the riverboat we leave for a boat ride in order to enjoy the silence and listen to the sounds of the nocturnal animals.

    4. Flotel Riverboat
In the morning we sail to the Laguna Victoria where we go for a 2 hour walk in the area to discover the local flora (Bibosi, Coquino, Ochoo, Peloto, Patuju...). With some luck we can also observe certain mammals like the squirrel monkeys or the black howler monkey. In the afternoon we go kayaking or canoeing in a boat made of just one piece of wood.

    5-6. Flotel Riverboat - Trinidad
