Argentina South and North 21 days


Day 1.  Buenos Aires arrival and City tour
Once arrived at Buenos Aires airport our team will pick you up and drive you to the hotel. After a short break the time to refresh yourself, we will visit the city. Buenos Aires is a 4 Million cosmopolitan city and the biggest of Argentina with a nice mix of European and South American culture and architecture.

We will start the visit with the Avenida 9 de Julio, the largest avenue in the world. Will pass by the Teatro Colon and the Plaza de Mayo where we can observe La casa del Gobierno, el Cabildo and the Cathedral. At the end of the afternoon we visit la Boca area and the street « El Caminito » the artist and bohemian spot in town. Then we will go back to the hotel.

Day 2. Buenos Aires – Ushuaia
Upon time schedule we will be transfer to Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires for a flight to Ushuaia, capital of Tierra del Fuego.

Our team will wait for you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. After a short stop we will visit the city.

Ushuaia is located in a cove of Beagle Channel dominated by the Martiales Mountains offering us a combination of sea, glaciers, mountain and forests. Departure from the hotel to reach Maipu Avenue until the Luis Pedero Fique footbridge to cross this narrow passage to reach the district of Misión, site chosen by the first settlers who settled in the region. We also visit the districts of Brown and Solier where we will be able to observe some old houses of the beginning of century but also the urban explosion since the 80s.

We then head to the glacier Le Martial, former ski resort that offers the opportunity for visitors to take the chairlift to climb to the glacier that offers us a panoramic view of the Beagle Channel and the city of Ushuaia. Our return is via Leandro N. Alem Avenue to join the Maritime Museum and the former Ushuaia prison where we make a quick visit to linger more in the museum at the end of the world which traces the history of this region.

Day 3. Ushuaia – Tierra de Fuego – Navigation on Beagle channel
The Tierra del Fuego Park is located about ten kilometers from the city of Ushuaia and border with Chile. This park with its 63,000 protected hectares offers to the visitors a beautiful landscape.

We start our excursion off the Río Pipo Valley to the diversion to enter Ensenada Bay where we will see the Redonda and Estorbo Islands. On the other side of the Beagle Channel, snow-capped mountains of the Sampaio mountain chain (Chile).

Back on Route 3 by a narrow path that allows us to compare the different plant species of Tierra del Fuego. We then arrive to Roca Lake and take a walk on the banks of the lake and Río Lapataia. From here dominates the Condor summit that characterizes the border between Chile and Argentina. We then head to the end of the park where Highway 3 ends in Lapataia Bay. On the way, we observe the green lagoon and the black lagoon. We end our tour with a beaver-built dam populating the park.

Return to Ushuaia to reach the port and embark on a catamaran and sail on the Beagle Channel by joining Alicia Island, famous for the large number of imperial cormorants that live there. We also pass off the island of "los lobos" which, in turn, is home to two species of sea lions. We continue our navigation to the scouts lighthouse that indicates the entrance to the city of Ushuaia. We head for Ushuaia along Grande Ile from Tierra del Fuego heading west. In this geographical area we see Puerto Tunel, former estancia now converted into an international scientific center to study the Yamana culture (indigenous to Tierra del Fuego). In the cove of Ushuaia, the landscape is strikingly beautiful with the city dominated by the Martial Mountains. The tour ends at the pontoon "Eduardo Brisighelli". We will Return to the hotel and the rest of the day will be free.

Day 4. Ushuaia – El Calafate
Upon time schedule we will drive to Ushuaia airport and flight to the city of El Calafate. Our team will wait for you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 5. El Calafate – Perito Moreno – El Calafate
At 9am, after breakfast, departure from our hotel to reach the Perito Moreno glacier located 80 km from El Calafate. This full day excursion will allow you to fully enjoy this exceptional natural environment. Many walkways offer a panoramic view of the glacier overlooking the surrounding lenga groves. We then take a path on the coast of the Canal de los Tempanos to reach the base of the glacier. From the port located at Refugio Argentino, we embark for a one-hour cruise to enjoy the south face of the glacier that can exceed 70 m high. We will return to the hotel around 17h00-17h30     

Day 6. El Calafate – Navigation Upsala – Spegazzini – El Calafate
At 07:30, after breakfast, departure from our hotel to reach the Port of Punta Banderas about 50 km from El Calafate. This full-day excursion takes place on the north arm of Lake Argentin. After two hours of navigation, the multiplication of icebergs of various sizes and shapes indicates the approach of the great glaciers of Patagonia. We go along and observe the Upsala and the Spegazzini whose front walls can reach 135 meters in height. In the early afternoon, our boat takes the road back to reach the Port of Punta Banderas from where we will go Back to El Calafate.

Day 7. El Calafate– Bariloche
Base on time schedule we will drive to the airport for a flight to the region of lakes and its capital Bariloche. Our team will wait for you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The afternoon will be free to discover the city of Bariloche. This town located on the left bank of Lake Nahuel Huapi and appreciated by the travellers who enjoy the mountain vibe.

Day 8. Bariloche – Navigation – Isla Victoria – Bosque de Arrayanes - Bariloche
Departure from the hotel for a half-day excursion to the surroundings. We drive to the LLao Llao peninsula where one of the largest and most luxurious hotels in Argentina is located. On the way, we stop at several watchtowers to observe the beauty of the place. First stop at Cerro Campanario culminating at 1050 m altitude. We reach the pass by taking a chairlift.

From above, the panorama is magnificent. The lakes Nahuel Huapi, Gutierrez and Moreno, the Cerros Lopez and Otto and Victoria Island can be seen there. We resume our journey and arrive in front of the San Eduardo chapel, built in the 40s and belonging to the hotel Llao Llao that we see in the distance. The old hotel caught fire in 1938. The wood that was saved from the fire was used to build the current port of Llao LLao, Puerto Pañuelo, from where many lake excursions start. Our tour now covers the Llao Llao forest protected by the Llao Llao Municipal Reserve.

We enter a wilder zone along Bahia Lopez and Lake Moreno then the small lagoon el Trebol. We take again the avenue Bustillo and resume the road to Puerto Pañuelo for boarding the Catamaran.

Catamaran sailing to Victoria Island and Arrayanes Forest. We anchor on Victoria Island for a short hike in the former conifer nursery. Free time in this relaxing place. We take our boat to reach Port Quetrihué in the peninsula of the same name where we will visit the famous forest of Arrayanes.

It is a unique tree formation in the world of which some centenarians. The bark of this tree is cold and completely smooth in color of cinnamon. It has white flowers similar to orange blossoms (azahar) and very tasty purple fruits. Return by boat to Bariloche and transfer to your hotel at the end of the afternoon.

Day 9. Bariloche – Salta City Tour
After breakfast, we will be transferred to the airport to take the flight to Salta where we will be brought to the hotel. After lunch, we will discover Salta, in the Spanish colonial style, which is the largest city in northern Argentina with its 500,000 inhabitants. We will visit the city and its historical monuments: the "Plaza 9 de Julio" surrounded by magnificent colonial buildings such as the Cathedral Basilica of Salta, the Historic Town Hall, the High Mountain Museum and the former Government Palace. We will continue our visit by the Church of San Francisco, the Museum of "Cabildo", the Convent of San Bernardo where we can admire the wooden portal carved by the natives of the region. From the top of Coline San Bernardo, we will be able to observe the valley of Lerma and will continue our route towards the monument of the hero "gaucho" Martin Miguel de Güemes and the monument "20 de Febrero". The tour continues towards the area of San Lorenzo with impressive houses and exuberant vegetation. We will end with the visit of the craft market. The rest of the day will be free.

Day 10. Salta – Cachi - Cafayate
Early in the morning, we leave to drive to the small village of Cachi. From Salta the road offers a nice landscape composed with forests, canyons « Quebradas », rivers and high mountains. The road goes through « La cuesta del Obispo » and up to 3348 m where we can appreciate a full view on the valley. Then we continue on la « Recta de Tin Tin », ancient road use by the Incas et goes to the national park « Los Cardones » where we can observe the Mountain Cachi 6380 m. Cachi village is located at the bottom of this mountain and we will visit and discover the church classified National Historic Monument. We will be also able to walk around Cachi or visit the Cachi historic museum. Later we will drive on the R.N 40 and visit Colte the handcraft road and the village of Seclantás, Molinos, San Carlos located in the « Quebrada de las Flechas » and its wonderful landscape. We will spend the night in Cafayate famous for its white wine Torrontes.

Day 11. Cafayate – Quebrada de las Conchas - Salta
Today we will discover the impressive and marvelous « Quebrada de las Conchas » where we will enjoy the sight of several geologic phenomenon. We will go back to the hotel in Salta at the end of the afternoon.             

Day 12. Salta - Salinas grandes - Purmamarca
Around 08:00, we will go to Purmamarca ("virgin land town" in Aymara) via San Antonio de Cobres and Salinas Grandes. Purmamarca is a village in the Jujuy region, and the most picturesque to see in the "Quebrada Humahuaca". It is surrounded by multicolored mountains called "Cerro de los siete colores" (Mountain with seven colors). The vast "Quebrada de Purmamarca" (canyon of Purmamarca) forms a large valley where flows the Grande de Jujuy river. In the central square of Purmamarca, we can go to the market to discover the artisanal products of the region, we will also visit the main Church which is classified National Monument.

Day 13. Purmamarca - Salta - Iguazu
Free morning. In the early afternoon we will head to Salta airport to join Iguazu.Our team will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day will be free.         

Day 14. Puerto Iguazu - Jesuit Mission from San Ignacio
We will leave early to visit the Jesuit ruins of San Ignacio. We will head south towards Teyú-Cuaré Provincial Park where are the famous ruins that tell the story of the missionaries between the 17th and 18th century. Those of 1632, partially rebuilt, were classified Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO in 1983. In the late afternoon, we will return to Iguazú where the rest of the day will be free.

Day 15. Iguazu Argentinian side
We leave the hotel and be transferred to the airport of Salta to flight to National Park of Foz de Iguazu. Once arrived our team will pick you up to drive to the hotel. This park was created in 1934 and measure 55.000 hectares. There are 275 falls from 30 to 80 meters high. An ecologic train and 3 stations have been built in purpose to preserve the environment of each tour. The lower tour (1700m) has 8 belvederes on a terrace which allow a direct contact with the vegetation and the waterfalls.

The higher tour (1200m) which cross from the top part of the waterfalls Dos Hermanas, Chico, Ramírez, Bossetti, Adán y Eva, Bernabé Méndez, and finish in Mbigua and got 6 belvederes where we can appreciate the rainbow formed by the San Martin, Escondido, Dos Mosqueteros, Rivadavia and Tres Mosqueteros waterfalls. We continue toward Puerto Canoas 3 kilometers away from the Iguazu river bank where the third terrace start, from there we the best view on the most impressive waterfalls: La garganta del diablo. In the center of the waterfall there is the island of San Martin where we can walk, 650 meters and 172 steps to access the different panoramas views. We will be able to appreciate the different panoramas like this one use in the movie Mission (1986) take precisely from this spot. We will walk also on the green path (600m), and observe the animal and plants. After this nice and impressive visit, we will go back to the hotel where the rest of the days is free.

Day 16. Iguazu Brazilian side
After breakfast we will visit the Iguazu Waterfall Brazilian side. We will discover through the bridge and miradors the Floriano et Teodora da Fonseca waterfalls and finish our visit with the San Martin waterfalls with a complete view on the waterfalls and on San Martin Island. The rest of the day is free.

Day 17. Iguazu free day
Free day in Iguazu to discover the town by yourself.

Day 18. Iguazu – Buenos Aires – Colonia (Uruguay)
In the morning we will leave the hotel and be transferred to the airport of Iguazu and flight to Buenos Aires. Once arrived at Buenos Aires airport our team will pick you up and drive you to the hotel. After a short break we will travel to Uruguay in the afternoon.

Our team will take you to the port to take the boat Elaida Isabel which leaves for Colonia in Uruguay. A cold lunch will be served. After lunch, we will take a tour of the Historic part of Montevideo, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will discover the "Basilia del Santísimo Sacramento" (the Basilica of the Sacrament) built in stone by the Portuguese in 1808, the "Plaza 1811" and the "Plaza Mayor", the "Calle de los Suspiros" (the street of sighs), the "Bastion of San Pedro", the "Portón de Campo" (the portal of the city), the "Polvorín", the "Faro" and the "Real de San Carlos". The tour lasts about ten hours. You will then be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the evening is free.

Day 19. Buenos aires – San Antonio de Areco – Buenos Aires
After breakfast we will leave to discover the Guacho life style in the village of San Antonio de Areco. We will visit the Estancias, the Guiraldes museum and the Goldfever Draghi, we will be able to appreciate the traditional Gaucho equestrian goldsmith. We will spend one night in San Antonio de Areco and return to Buenos Aires on day 14 in the late afternoon.

Day 20. Buenos Aires Departure
According to your time of departure* you are transferred from the hotel to the airport. For international flights, it is recommended to arrive at the airport 3 hours before scheduled departure. End of our services.
