We fly early from La Paz and leave Rurrenabaque around 08h30 by boat on the Beni river to the indigenous community Tacana. If you are interested in the life in the community we are welcome to visit and have lunch or even stay the entire day and night. In this case we can go fishing and catch dinner. Maybe you even have the chance to participate in a party, a birthday or a traditional event in the community – you will be welcomed with open arms. If you prefer to continue your trek we will be going directly into the tropical forest where we discover the endemic flora and fauna. In the evening we will choose a suitable location to set up our camp and have dinner. Later we can go for a night walk to enjoy the sounds of the jungle and observe the nocturnal animals.
Day 2: Jungle
After breakfast we leave for a long trek through the tropical forest and our guide will share his knowledge of the trees, medicinal plants, the birds and the animals. With a little bit of luck we might see wild boars, tapirs, monkeys, snakes and more. We have lunch and relax before continuing our trek. We also might have the possibility to swim in a natural swimming pool. During dinner we have the chance to share with our guide his experience of the fascinating environment and the different legends of the people of the forest.
Day 3: Jungle - Rurrenabaque
After breakfast we leave to observe the birds and other animals before packing our bags and return to Rurrenabaque. By mid-afternoon we arrive at the banks of the Beni river where a boat will be waiting to bring us to back to Rurrenabaque.
Day 4: Kayak with hiking and climbing (Rurrenabaque)
We’ll row approx. 1 hour to reach the camp (option to go by motorboat) on an island where we observe ancient rock engravings. We’ll row around the island and observe the water birds in the Lagunas or we continue by motorboat to the camp in the jungle. From here we climb the mountain “Suse” to the first view point (1 hour) or to the mountain top (2-3 hours), from where we can enjoy a great view of the jungle of the Madidi National Park.
Day 5: Kayak with hiking and climbing – Rurrenabaque – La Paz
We walk through the jungle and learn about the local flora and their uses as well as the fauna of the Amazon as we search for their traces. We enjoy a swim in the natural swimming pool and walk to the “Cascada de la Bruja” (witches’ waterfall). We return to the main camp for lunch before heading back to Rurrenabaque and fly to La Paz.
